Thane city is one of the major urban conglomerations of Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and is well connected to all parts of the country by rail and road. The city's proximity to Mumbai, the commercial capital of India and location at geographical center of MMR has given tremendous impetus to the growth of industries in and around Thane. This district is surrounded by scenic hills, which add to its beauty. Thane is connected by three major highways, viz. NH3, NH4 and Eastern Express Highway. 
It is 45 mins away from Bandra Kurla Complex, 40 mins from International Airport and 25 mins away from Powai.
The city spread over 128.23 sq kms is expected to hold a population of 30 lakhs (3 million) by 2031, with literacy rate of 80%. Due to such good infrastructure; it is an attractive location for both residential and commercial development.
The Thane Municipal Corporation is the first municipality to make incorporating rain water harvesting and solar energy mandatory in all new projects. Thane also is the first city in the state to have bio-mechanization plant which is a process of bio-waste management to generate electricity.
